TOM MCLOUGHLIN SET TO DIRECT EXORCIST: DOMINION

FOR MORGAN CREEK PRODUCTIONS

BURBANK, CA, October 28, 1999 – Tom McLoughlin has been tapped to direct Exorcist: Dominion, the “prequel” to the enormously successful Exorcist saga, it was announced today by James G. Robinson, Chairman and CEO of Morgan Creek Productions.

McLoughlin’s first feature films as a director were the modern gothic tale of terror One Dark Night, Steven King’s Sometimes They Come Back and Jason Lives: Friday the 13th, Part VI, which achieved both financial and critical success due to its unique blend of horror and satirical humor.  His prolific career as a television director includes the Emmy and Golden Globe-nominated mini-series In A Child’s Name for CBS; the unforgettable docu-drama on AIDS, Something to Live For: The Alison Gertz Story, starring Molly Ringwald and Martin Landau; Hallmark Hall of Fame’s Journey, starring Jason Robards and Meg Tilly; and the award-winning Behind the Mask, starring Donald Sutherland.

“The original 1973 film was a classic,” stated Robinson “and McLoughlin’s vision for the prequel will allow us to fully explore and complete this extraordinary story.  We’re thrilled to have him on board.

Exorcist: Dominion traces the story of Father Merrin back to his first encounter with the Devil during his missionary work in Africa.

The film, which is produced by James G. Robinson and executive produced by Jonathan Zimbert is scheduled to begin shooting on location in Africa in Spring 2000.  William Wisher wrote the screenplay, based on the novel by William Peter Blatty.  Warner Bros. will distribute the film domestically and Morgan Creek International will distribute overseas.

Morgan Creek recently released the action-comedy Chill Factor, starring Cuba Gooding, Jr. and Skeet Ulrich and just completed production on the psychological thriller In Crowd, which is slated for a Spring 2000 theatrical release.
