"By looking at The Exorcist in this way we have given a sense of how serious a piece of work it is."

RECENT NEWS...

JUNE 4th 2000 15.40pm:- Sorry I haven't updated in a long while but I've had a lot of work on with both University applications, A-Level exams  and the re-release of A Clockwork Orange in the UK. Where shall I begin?... well, I guess a good start would be the announcement of the revised cut of The Exorcist scheduled for a US theater release on September 22nd 2000. It has already previewed in only three cities - Ann Arbor Michigan, Austin Texas and Athens Georgia. More updates soon on this... I promise!  I have the complete low down on the restored footage in The Exorcist. The new cut will get a nationwide release in the US this September with a DVD following. The footage restored includes: a new opening to the film, Regan's first medical examination, a new take of the 'Spider-walk', an extended take of the Karras in the language lab scene, Merrin & Chris converse before the exorcism as do Chris and Sharon, Merrin & Karras' dialogue on the stairs during the lull in the exorcism, Dyer giving the medal back to Chris and the Kinderman and Dyer ending in it's prime!!! I'm hoping to get the 'New Cut' section up by tonight, if not it will be tomorrow.

NOVEMBER 7th 1999 12.46pm:- Main update can be found on the navigation bar. That's right, you can now relive my experience of meeting Bill Blatty and Linda Blair - includes exclusives pics. Also, remember on the 29th of October I said that the three sections on the different cuts of The Exorcist will possibly be put together by myself and Bill Blatty? Well, Bill has given me exclusive rights to state his views put forth in the late Bantam book 'William Peter Blatty On The Exorcist: From Novel To Film', so look out for those three sections soon!

NOVEMBER 3rd 1999 20.47pm:- Here's the story: I get home on Monday after a hard day at college, switch on the computer and check my e-mails as usual, but... when my mail has been received I see a name that forced me to shout out a loud, "YES!". That's right, it was an e-mail from William Peter Blatty saying how he was pleased to meet me in London and flattered that I waited in a queue for 6 hours to see him. So now I have direct contact with the guy who created The Exorcist - hence the most correct information available. You can now read the first part of my 'Exorcist' article titled 'The Exorcist: Rotating Heads, Levitation & Vomit at: http://www.horror-wood.com/exorhist.htm. Also, I have uploaded the press release from Morgan Creek about Exorcist: Dominion that can be viewed by clicking here. Oh yeah, and just in case you're wondering, I loved The Blair Witch Project. Until next time...

OCTOBER 29th 1999 19.33pm:- It was an experience unlike any other! Meeting the women who brought Regan MacNeil to life was worth the 6 1/2 hour wait on a freezing London street. To tell you the truth the que was part of the experience. A countless number of fans asking me hundreds of questions and even a news crew allowing me to do my "...film that gives to you what you bring to it" routine. More updates soon including three sections about the first cut, the final cut and the new cut - which I hope to devise with the help of William Peter Blatty.

OCTOBER 27th 1999 18.53pm:- You may have noticed a few new buttons on the navigation bar, some are working however others are for new sections that I'm currently devising. You can currently check out the 'News page', 'Bibliography' and a new and improved 'Articles' section. I will be in the chat room tonight at 9pm (GMT) so if you want to know what the great 'Captain Fromme' is like in person...  you'll have to join in and find out. Tomorrow I meet Linda Blair at HMV... need I say more?

OCTOBER 26th 1999 12.35pm:-  For all hoping to get to HMV Trocodero on Thursday, Linda Blair and Bill Blatty will be arriving at 6pm, Mark Kermode will not be attending. My oh my... It's been two days since I met the creator of The Exorcist and I cannot wait until Thursday when I meet him again. I know Bill will be reading this at some point so I would like to say thank you for everything the movie has done for me over the past year and it was one hell of an experience meeting you. Also on Sunday Mark Kermode announced to all at The Cinema Store that he had officially passed The Exorcist baton over to me. I got some great pictures of the Bill Blatty meeting which will be posted on here within the next couple of weeks. CHECK OUT THE NEW BIBLIOGRAPHY SECTION HERE.

OCTOBER 23rd 1999 18.42pm:-  The Exorcist is to be aired on British television for the first time on Wednesday 8th December on Sky Premier and get this... the ITC have passed it uncut first time around. As I have a week off college this week and the video is released on Monday, I'm going to dedicate my entire week to finishing all articles on the page and making loads of new stuff so keep checking in through the week. Plus, I appear to have an extremely bare Message Board... it is there for your benefit to communicate with other Exorcist fans.

OCTOBER 20th 1999 21.18pm:-  I have updated the FAQ with loads of new facts put straight. The days are now edging closer to my meeting with William Peter Blatty in London. After Halloween I will dedicate an entire section on this page to my meetings with both Bill Blatty and Linda Blair which will include exclusive pictures. Until next time keep the faith for the Big E.

OCTOBER 14th 1999 18.26pm:- There will be an exclusive chat session this Wednesday in the chat room situated on this page. The chat begins at 9.00pm (4.00pm in the USA) and will run for 1hr and twenty minutes.

OCTOBER 14th 1999 11.09am:- The restoration of the missing scenes in The Exorcist has been pushed back to November for a scheduled release date of March 2000. Among the missing scenes is a brand new and completely different take of the "spider-walk" that has just been discovered by Warner executives. Though I can't tell you how it is different (sworn to secrecy) I can tell you that it's twice as creepy and totally unexpected!!!! I will keep fans posted on recent developments on this front.

OCTOBER 12th 1999 4.00pm:- I will be meeting with Mark Kermode and... the man himself WILLIAM PETER BLATTY on the 24th of this month in London. I will try to get as many quotes as possible and possibly get him to give a message to the millions.......and the millions of The Exorcist's fans.

OCTOBER 1st 1999 8.20pm:-  October 25th marks the sell-through release of The Exorcist on both VHS and DVD for the first time in the UK. To celebrate this fantastic event both William Peter Blatty and Linda Blair will be making special appearances all over the UK. More info on exact locations to come. Though the UK DVD is the same as the US 25th Ann. edition, there is a slight difference in that the UK version of The Fear Of God is scored by none other that Tubular Bells - which makes it worthwhile to purchase this one too. Frankly I don't know when it's going to stop for me... I've got 2 UK copies (original rental & recent rental), 2 US copies, 2 US DVD's... it goes on and on!!!!

SEPTEMBER 21st 1999 9.00pm:- I've just agreed a three month magazine feature on The Exorcist for Horror-wood.com. These three articles stretching over three issues will be the completed version of my piece on this site - The One Hope, The Only Hope, The Exorcist - except I have renamed it - The Exorcist: Rotating Heads, Levitation & Vomit. It is a very entertaining and factual piece that will be posted in the articles section of this website in December, but if you can't wait that long visit : http://www.horror-wood.com to read each article as they come out.
